Prayers of the People
Transfiguration
Transfiguration Sunday
February 10, 2013

In peace, let us pray to the Lord, the people saying, "Lord have Mercy"

For the holy church of God, that it may be filled with truth and love and be found without fault at the day of your coming, we pray to you, O Lord

Lord have mercy

For our Bishops (names), Priest/Pastor (names), Deacon/Intern/other Leaders (names or positions) and for all bishops, ministers, and holy people of God, we pray to you, O Lord

Lord have mercy

For all who fear God and believe in you, Lord Christ, that our divisions may cease and that all may one as you and the Creator are one, we pray to you, O Lord

Lord have mercy

For the mission of the Church, that in faithful witness it may preach the Gospel not only to the ends of the earth, but also in our own country, in our own communities, and even when it means calling those we like or admire into account, we pray to you O Lord

Lord have mercy

For those who do not yet believe, for those struggling to believe, and those who have lost their faith or hope, that they may receive the light of the Gospel, we pray to you, O Lord

Lord have mercy

For peace in the world, in our communities, and our homes that a spirit of respect and forbearance may grow among nations, peoples, communities and families, we pray to you, O Lord

Lord have mercy

For those in positions of Public Trust, especially our City Council, State Legislature, Congress, and Courts that they may serve justice, develop moral budgets and promote the dignity and freedom of all people, we pray to you, O Lord

Lord have mercy

For those who live and work in this community, especially our neighbors at (name neighboring churches, businesses, schools, hospitals, etc whatever or whoever the "church neighbors" are) that all who come and go here and there may experience grace and peace, we pray to you, O Lord

Lord have mercy

For a blessing upon all human labor, especially today for our police, firefighters, search & rescue workers, and all who keep us safe from harm; and for lifting from their hearts the heavy burdens from the scenes they have witnessed, we pray to you, O Lord

Lord have mercy

For this gathering (or congregation), for those who are present and those who are absent, especially (names), that we may be delivered from all anxiety and distress and show forth your glory in all that we do, we pray to you, O Lord

Lord have mercy

For all who have commended themselves to our prayers; those we name before you now - aloud or in our hearts

Silent Space for others to add their prayers aloud or in their hearts

For our families, friends, and neighbors, that being freed from fear, pain, sadness, or unease, they may live in joy, peace, and health, we pray to you O Lord

Lord have mercy

Creator God who revealed your glory and presence in your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, receive our prayers, reveal the glory and presence of your Spirit in our world today, free us from all doubts and empower us to act as a transfigured people.

Amen.

Prayers for Martin et al

My faith traditions - Lutheran and Episcopal - use intercessory prayer forms - in which we pray for the needs of others (even those we do not know) as well as for ourselves. Since Blogger does not put the items you add to Pages into the regular feed, I will be cross-posting them here.  The Prayer Page will list them all in chronological order with the newest first.
